Needs to get up a tree quickly, but you are no climber, these are there to help! The idea is the feet go against a pole or tree and then you wrap the strap around. This holds you against the pole. Stepping on the rung makes the feet dig in and takes all the slack out of the strap to hold it tight. Climb up, add the next one, and you are getting higher faster. Weighing in around 2 pounds each they are easily portable. Make sure you do all setup at home where your tools are. Fit and finish felt good and are very easy to use. High Quality with great functionality giving great Value for Money.

These climbing sticks are pretty good for the money. They do require some disassembling/assembling to get started. Once you get the hang of folding the steps and adjusting them to the right tension, they work really well. They feel solid and are ok on weight for taking them out into the field

I recently picked up the Kalkal 20" Aluminum Climbing Sticks (4-Pack) for my saddle hunting setup and i love them! These sticks are a fantastic addition to my gear. If you're looking for a balance of lightweight design, secure footing, and packability, Kalkal nailed it. They are clearly designed with saddle hunters in mind. At 20 inches per stick, they offer the perfect blend of portability and height gain. With the 4-pack, I’m getting enough height for most of my hunts, and the compact size makes them easy to strap to a pack or platform.

I got these as they looked pretty stout and glad to say they were. They're made pretty solidly and give you a good sense of security that they'll hold your weight. Installing them onto a tree trunk is pretty easy...you just need to set the steps to a distance you're comfortable climbing up...once you set them to the trunk and put weight on them - they hold really well...solidly. Great value for your spend here for a tough, well built set of tree steps. 4 stars from me on these.

These climbing sticks are a great option if you’re getting into saddle hunting. At 20 inches, they’re a little smaller than some of the 30-inch models, which means you’ll need more of them if you want to get higher up a tree. The upside is that being smaller also makes them lighter and easier to pack in and out, which is a big plus if you don’t plan on climbing super high. They’re also a bit more affordable compared to their bigger cousins, so they make a nice budget-friendly choice without feeling cheap. Setup is simple, they carry well, and overall they feel like a solid step forward in building out my saddle hunting setup.

Learn More About Climbing Sticks

Why use climbing sticks instead of a ladder or climbers?

They’re lighter, easier to carry in a pack, less damaging to the tree, and ideal for mobile or spot-and-stalk hunting.

With common 3 – 4 sticks, they usually can get you up10–15 ft (3–4.5 m); If you need to climb higher, choose the longer ones.

Kalkal climbing sticks rate around 300 lbs (136 kg). We recommend not to exceed the manufacturer’s rating whatever sticks you are using.

Always use a certified full-body safety harness (fall-arrest system) and follow the manufacturer’s installation and use instructions.

Kalkal climbing sticks are made with a silent stacking system, so you can connect all sticks together for easy transport without making any noise.

It’s not recommended to leave climbing sticks on a tree permanently, as exposure to the elements can gradually damage both the sticks and the straps. For their longevity, it’s best to take them down after each use. Also, it depends on local regulations whether you’re allowed to do this.

Choose a straight, solid tree with intact bark and enough diameter for secure strap placement. Avoid cracked or rotting trees.

Use the sticks with the provided straps per instruction: attach the stick on the tree, tie it with the straps and press down to confirm its stability, then add the next one step by step. Please read our product manual.

Check product ratings closely; if your weight exceeds the rated limit, do not use that product. Look for reinforced models rated for higher loads.

Before each use, you should carefully check the straps, buckles, welds, bolts, and step surfaces for wear, cracks, or looseness. Repair or replace damaged parts if needed.

It is recommended to use a haul line or weapon holder once you reach the desired height. Don’t carry your weapon while you’re actively climbing.
